Day 3/4

What I did today!

firstly started off with a trip to the studio I would use for VFX project this will be Friday, it was vary spacious and the crew there were very welcoming. I had originally done a 8week long work experience there as a student. and a few of the Staff remembered me.


this was my first ever step into a studio and first time in front of a camera at Radio/TV Rotorua.


the day followed up by finishing all my initial editing on premier pro as I had technical issues with syncing 2 of the footage I wanted to use. 


Side note Cam A was not very focused or focused on the table than the Talent,

this limited most of my shot selections I could use from that angle....but its all about problem solving as Dan's
voice would say...in my head LOL however we got to a good flow and most of the base editing is done.

I'll aim to finish the VFX in After Effects tonight and submit tomorrow.


the rest of the footage consists of B-roll from the shoulder mount.

Day 4 Matariki Culture Considerations/ Target Audience/Location

  Cultural considerations  I want to make sure all info on Matariki and the Waitangi treaty are accurate and from credible sources. I used websites like Te Ara for most of the info used as well as asked friends who work at Maori TV to validate some of this info. I understand that including  designs and images to the poster may seem inappropriate so I will validate this with my peers and tutor. Target Audience/location I will be targeting most families young and old, with an incentive to the older generation to share stories and teachings of what Matariki and the treaty has brought to them and their community. The Market stall will be in a place easily accessible like the Auckland Domain or central by Aotea Square. There will be plenty of space for families to sit together as well as remain appropriately social and distanced.

VFX Prep

Day 1 Organizing and researching for VFX project I managed to find all the assets id need in footage Create, some looping dust spreads and winds. I also looked into lightening VFX, ill predominantly look to make my own but add some of the ones I found in as well. Ideally id like to learn how to make my own but granted that I don't have enough time to make it this time around id use the ones I found on FC . I also looked in to atmosphere and some basic sound design for the lightning sounds, I was considering having a background theme song playing when doing the action scenes so will look more into that as I finalizing preprod Lastly I looked into Green Screening and set ups. this video was really helpful in terms of knowing what could go wrong, do's and don'ts as well as proper way to set up.  the main take away from this was  1) making sure the set up is light balanced 2) preplanning all my moves (in terms of space) im sure there's more too!
